Most of these pronunciations are wrong, in my opinion. They follow the antiquated and provincial English pronunciation of Latin. It is almost a joke to use this system in international communication. If we can use the metric system, surely we can learn to pronounce Latin names correctly. They are simply not English, they are Latin. The form of Latin which should be used, furhermore, is not Caesar's Latin, but the Latin of the 1700s in continental Europe. Botanists follow the "Italian" pronunciation of Latin, which is probably the best known, the most traditional, and the easiest to learn.
